Announcements

The regular meeting of the Floyd County School Board has been changed for the month of August and will be held on Friday, August  10, 2012, at 6:00 p.m., at the School Board Administration Office.

 

The Virginia Board of Education is now seeking public comment on science textbooks.  It intends to take final action on the recommended textbooks on September 27, 2012.  Review copies of all textbooks submitted for the current approval cycle are available for public examination at various sites around the Commonwealth.  The local examination site is Radford University and contact information is as follows:

Individuals are invited to examine the proposed recommended textbooks for K-12 Science at the examination sites and to submit written comments.  Comments may be faxed to the VDOE at (804) 786-1703 or sent via mail to Eric M. Rhoades, science coordinator, Virginia Department of Education, P. O. Box 2120, Richmond, Virginia 23218-2120.  Comments may also be e-mailed to 2012ScienceTextbooks@doe.virginia.gov .  The Department of Education will begin taking public comments on July 27, 2012.  Comments will be received through August 26, 2012.
